Advani appeals to Iran for justice for imprisoned Bahai leaders

Stressing that a country's civilisation can be best judged from seeing how it treats its minorities, veteran BJP leader L K Advani today appealed to Iran to join the United Nations and provide justice to seven imprisoned leaders of Bahai community.

''I appeal to Iran to join the UN and the rest of the international community to treat the Bahais with respect and provide justice to the imprisoned seven leaders of the community,'' the BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman said in a statement issued by National Spritual Assembly of the Bahais of India.

Citing the example of Parsi community in India, Mr Advani said, ''They came to India centuries ago facing persecution from Islamic fundamentalists and today they live in India as a prominent minority community and are very successful.'' Besides, other eminent people, including former UN special Rapporteur on Housing Rights Miloon Kothari, former dean of School of Social Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru Univerity Amitabh Kundu and senior coloumnist George Verghese, also raised concern against the handling of the case of seven Bahai leaders who are currently facing 10-year imprisonment without the due process of law, the statement said.

According to the National Spritual Assembly of the Bahais of India, the persecution of the community has increased since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Iran.

''This present wave of systematic attacks on the Bahai leadership came in 2008 when the seven former leaders were arrested without charges and kept in temporary detention for nine months,'' the statement added.

Excavation work commences for Chile's "temple of light"

SANTIAGO, Chile — Excavation work is under way for the new Baha'i House of Worship for the South American continent, in the Chilean capital of Santiago.

The ground work comes after a prolonged search for a site and unprecedented technical challenges, which included the invention of an entirely new material for the building's exterior. The site has now been set at a location in the hills of Peñalolen, a "commune" within metropolitan Santiago, at the foot of the Andes.

"We are pleased to inform you that excavation work has now commenced in Chile on the land where the last continental House of Worship is to stand," the Universal House of Justice wrote on 26 November, expressing its hope that the Baha'is throughout the world would "be heartened to learn of the milestone now reached..."

"Many obstacles have been overcome to reach this point," the House of Justice noted.

Siamak Hariri – of the Canadian architecture firm Hariri Pontarini Architects, which has designed the House of Worship – is delighted. "It's really a very rewarding moment," he says. "We've found an extraordinary site, visible from all over Santiago. Even if you come into the airport from other places in the world, you'll see it in the distance."
The House of Worship, with its surrounding water gardens of plant species native to the region, will cover some 10 hectares of a 50 hectare site. Excavation is now being carried out to prepare for the building's foundations – 30 meters in diameter – and for the provision of underground utilities.
Baha'i Houses of Worship
Baha'i Houses of Worship are distinctive buildings, open to everyone, where visitors can simply pray and meditate in a serene atmosphere, or - at certain times - listen to the holy scriptures of theworld's religions being recited and sung. An integral concept of each House of Worship is that they will, in due course, provide a spiritual center around which agencies and institutions of social, humanitarian, and educational service will be established for the surrounding population.
When completed, the edifice in Santiago will be the eighth in a series of Baha'i Houses of Worship, and the final one to be erected to serve an entire continent. The seven others are in Australia, Germany, India, Panama, Uganda, the United States and Western Samoa.
"Striking and original"
The project to construct a Baha'i House of Worship in Chile was announced in 2001. A call for submission of designs was made the following year by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Chile, eliciting 185 entries from more than 80 countries.
The design brief called for a domed structure with nine entrances which, symbolically, would welcome people from all directions of the earth for the praise and glorification of God.
From a shortlist of four entries, Hariri Pontarini Architects was given the go-ahead to develop its scheme, described by the Universal House of Justice in its recent message as a "striking and original design."
The building consists of an arrangement of nine translucent "wings," rising directly from the ground, and giving the impression of floating over a large reflecting lily pool. The wings will allow sunlight to filter through during the day, while at night the House of Worship will emit a warm glow from its interior lighting.
The innovative design required that an entirely new form of cast glass be invented for the building's exterior. "That was an exploratory journey that took some 18 months," says Mr. Hariri, whose team needed to develop technologies that would ensure the building's survival in the environmental conditions of the location, a highly active seismic zone.
"We've done the testing. It has been marked out, vetted and peer-reviewed," says the architect. "All the permits are signed. So now is the perfect time for the construction process to commence."
Award-winning design
Since it was first unveiled, the design for the House of Worship has been praised in more than 40 international journals, and received numerous accolades. Canadian Architect featured the building as one of its 2004 Awards of Excellence. A judge described it as representing "a rare convergence of forces that seem destined to produce a monument so unique as to become a global landmark..."
Most recently, in August, a global panel of almost 100 judges named the House of Worship joint winner in the World Architecture News "Civic Building - Unbuilt" award category.
"It was a nice coincidence to win this award at this particular time, just as the excavation work was about to begin" says Mr. Hariri.

Activities of Kerala

A consultative gathering organized by the State Bahá’í Council for all IPG Cluster agencies, Auxiliary Board members, Institute Board and State Bahá’í Council was held on Saturday 10 July 2010; Counsellor Mr. N. C. Baskaran was present and addressed the gathering.

He started by sharing his experience as a pilgrim to the Holy Land which was spiritually enlightening experience for all friends and it created a wonderful spiritual setting for the gathering.

After Mr. Baskaran’s address, selected parts of the Ridván message were studied and thereafter the friends were divided into cluster wise groups. All groups prepared an action plan for the next cycle and the same plan was presented to the gathering in the evening.

It was one of the most spiritually enriching gatherings and all friends went back to their respective clusters with plans in hand.

22 believers from different clusters participated in a 4 day training program to study, the “Almighty Covenant of ‘Bahá’u’lláh” ‘(Ruhi 8 ) at Kochi Bahá’í Centre. This was the first batch in Kerala to get the opportunity to study the book.

The training program started on 30 July and concluded on 2 August. The friends attended the training with utmost spiritual attitude and enthusiasm. They were thrilled and emotionally moved.

पुणे में आयोजित सांख्यिकी सेमिनार में भाग लेन वाले प्रतिभागी

पुणे के बहाई केन्द्र में सांख्यिकी सेमिनार का आयोजन किया गया। इस सेमिनार में समुदायसमूह विकास सहायकों और विभिन्न समुदायसमूह विकास समितियों के कुछ सदस्यों ने भाग लिया। राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी अधिकारी ने सेमिनार के संचालन में सहयोग दिया। महाराष्ट्र के 9 विकसित समुदायसमूहों से 19 मित्रों ने इस एकदिवसीय सेमिनार में अपनी प्रतिभागिता दर्ज की। कार्यक्रम का आरम्भ समुदाय-समूहों के विकास से सम्बन्धित कुछ प्रश्नों से किया गया-सघन विकास कार्यक्रम क्या हैं ? सघन विकास कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य क्या है ? सघन विकास कार्यक्रम की सफलता की कुँजी क्या है ? सभी मित्रों ने इन प्रश्नों पर चर्चा की और अपने-अपने विचार व्यक्त किये। विकास कभी भी स्थिर नहीं होना चाहिए यह हमेशा आगे बढ़ता रहना चाहिए। ऐसा करने के लिए सभी एजेंसियों के बीच में समन्वय और यर्थाथवादी योजना बनाने की आवश्यकता है। सांख्यिकी अधिकारी ने सांख्यिकी, समुदायसमूह विकास एजेंसियों और समुदाय में समुदायसमूह विकास सहायकों की भूमिका से सम्बन्धित कुछ बिन्दुओं पर समीक्षा की। प्रतिभागियों ने उत्साहपूर्वक प्रश्नों को पूछा और समुदायसमूहों के विषय में और अधिक जाना। एक व्यक्तिगत प्रश्न के उत्तार में सांख्यिकी अधिकारी ने कहा कि होमविजिट रूही पुस्तक-2 के दृढ़ीकरण विषय के आधार पर और श्रृंखलाबध्द होना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि दृढ़ीकरण विषयों की गंभीरता हमारी ऑंखों में प्रकटित होनी चाहिए तभी यह दूसरों पर एक अच्छा प्रभाव छोड़ सकती है। कई बार ऐसा होता है कि हम एक परिवार से मिलते हैं और हम केवल निजी बाते करते हैं, हम चाय पीते हैं और वापस आ जाते हैं, इसे सामजिक भ्रमण कह सकते हैं पर होमविजिट नहीं। होमविजिट में हमें नये बहाई परिवारों के साथ दृढ़ीकरण विषयों पर चर्चा करनी चाहिए। भोजनोपरान्त पावर प्वायंट प्रस्तुति देखी गई, जिसमें व्यवस्थित ढंग से सांख्यिकी आंकड़ों को एकत्रित करना और रखना देखा। समुदायसमूहों के पास प्रत्येक चक्र के नवीन सांख्यिकी आंकड़े होने चाहिए। अंत में बहाई बच्चों, किशोर और समुदायसमूहों के बारे में सभी जानकारी प्राप्त करने के लिए समुदाय विकास रूपरेखा की समीक्षा की। इस कार्यक्रम की सफलता में पुणे स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभा का विशेष योगदान रहा।

31 Eminent Indians Call on the Iranian Government for Immediate Release of the seven Baha'i leaders

New Delhi, August 31, 2010 – Deeply distressed by the sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, for the seven Iranian Baha'i leaders, on patently false and unjustifiable charges, 31 prominent Indians have issued an open letter appealing to the Iranian government to release the seven immediately and to ensure a fair and open appeal process in accordance to international standards of jurisprudence.

Signatories include prominent leaders from religious communities as well as leaders in various fields of endeavour: judiciary,  civil society organisations and academia. Justice Krishna Iyer, Mr. Fali Nariman, Mr. Soli Sorabjee, religious leaders - Archbishop Vincent Concesso, and Swami Agnivesh, as well as champions of human rights groups such as Miloon Kothari, Maja Daruwala, Suhas Chakma, and other civil society organizations, Rajesh Tandon, Ashok Khosla, George Verghese, Ajay Mehta,  and  the academia such as Prof. R. B. Singh, Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Prof. C. Raj Kumar, Prof. Tahir Mahmood,  have jointly expressed, “ India and Iran have had historic ties of language, poetry, architecture, music and religion. In the name of these ancient ties that bind our two nations, we call on the Government of Iran to act according to the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which it has ratified. These provisions mandate the upholding of the principles of justice and freedom-principles cherished by all great religions of the world and all nations.”

Maja Daruwala, Director of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, on behalf of all the signatories sent the open letter to the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The letter says, “truth is that the only crime that these seven individuals – two women and five men, the oldest among them being 77 years old – have committed is that they are Baha'is. They are peace - loving and obedient to the law of their land and have worked for the betterment of Iranian society.”

“In speaking up for these seven Bahá’í leaders we are therefore also standing up for the 3,00,000 Iranian Baha'is, who constitute that country’s largest religious minority, whose lives have been blighted and whose progress has been crippled by the injustices that have so systematically and remorselessly been visited upon them.”

UN agencies, governments, parliaments, NGOs and prominent individuals across the globe – including an increasing number of Iranians – have raised their voice against this unjust verdict and the systematic persecution of the Baha’is in Iran. United States, UK, Netherland, France, Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and the European Union have issued statements condemning this sentence. Amnesty International, Human Watch and the International Commission for Religious Freedom, amongst others have issues statements.

In this open letter, these concerned citizens of India have also called on the Indian government to use its good offices with Iran to see that these detainees are immediately released and they be given a fair hearing.

रूही पुस्तक-8 ''बहाउल्लाह की संविदा'' का अधययन

पंजाब, हरियाणा और हिमाचल प्रदेश में संस्थान प्रक्रिया से जुड़े सात मित्रों ने हाल ही चंडीगढ़ में रूही पुस्तक-8 ''बहाउल्लाह की संविदा'' का अधययन पूर्ण किया। 18 से 22 अगस्त तक चंडीगढ़ के बहाई केन्द्र में कक्षाओं का संचालन सहायक मण्डल सदस्य श्रीमती किरण सिन्हा द्वारा किया गया। प्रतिदिन लगभग दस घंटे तक अधययन करने के दौरान संविदा से सम्बन्धिात अनेक जानकारियाँ प्रतिभागियों ने प्राप्त कीं और बहाउल्लाह की संविदा में अपने को और दृढ़ महसूस किया। ज्ञातत्व है कि ये सभी मित्र अपने-अपने क्षेत्र में स्टडी सर्कल अथवा किणोर आधयात्मिक सणक्तिकरण की कक्षाएँ संचालित कर रहे हैं।

बहाई समुदाय के दृढीकरण के लीये रूही पुस्तक आवश्यक

स्टडी सर्कल की गुणवत्ता सुनिश्चित करने के उद्देश्य से इन्दौर के बहाई भवन में 9 से 13 अगस्त तक पांच दिन का रिफ्रेशर कोर्स आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें खरगोन समुदायसमूह से दो तथा सनावद समुदायसमूह से तीन अर्थात कुल पांच बहाई मित्रों ने भाग लिया। कक्षा के संचालन में सहायक मण्डल सदस्य श्रीमती अल्का कुमार, राज्य संयोजक श्री हरीश शर्मा, स्नेहलता जी एवं बीना जी ने अपना योगदान किया। कोर्स में रूही पुस्तक 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, एवं 7 के कुछ चुने हुए भागों का अध्ययन किया गया।

भोजराज सिंह परमार का बहाई विधिविधान के साथ विवाह

न्यूजीलैंड के श्री जॉन व्हाइट और श्रीमती नेनसी व्हाइट की सुपुत्री इलिश व्हाइट का विवाह थाकपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश के श्री भोजराज सिंह परमार के साथ 28 जून 2010 को बहाई विधिविधान के साथ पंचगनी में सम्पन्न हुआ। विवाह समारोह पंचगनी की स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभा के तत्वावधान में आयोजित किया गया।

भोपाल में पारिवारिक सम्मेलन सम्पन्न

भोपाल में आयोजित पारिवारिक सम्मेलन के प्रतिभागी समूहों में रिज़वान संदेश-2010 का गहन अध्ययन करते हुए श्री पयाम शोगी

क्षेत्रीय बहाई परिषद मध्यप्रदेश एवं छत्तीसगढ़ द्वारा भोपाल में 12 से 14 जून 2010 तक तीन दिवसीय पारिवारिक सम्मेलन आयोजित किया गया। कार्यक्रम का शुभारम्भ प्रार्थनाओं से किया गया है, उसके उपरान्त अतिथियों का स्वागत कर सलाहकार श्री सतीश मितई ने अपने उद्बोधन में बताया कि हम इन तीन दिनों को विश्व न्याय मन्दिर की इच्छानुसार विशेष तैयारी के दिन के रूप में लेते हुए अपने लक्ष्यों की ओर बढ़ेंगे। इन्दौर से आईं डॉ. श्रीमती ताहिरा वज्दी ने सम्मेलन से अति प्रसन्नता जाहिर करते हुए उपस्थित मित्रों को बहाई संविदा के बारे में बताया। राष्ट्रीय बहाई आध्यात्मिक सभा के अध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर मंगेश तेली ने रिज़वान संदेश 2010 के अनुरूप अपना लक्ष्य चुनने के लिए पावर प्वाइंट के माध्यम से बताया कि अपनी कमजोरियों और कमियों को नजर अंदाज करते हुए सिर्फ अपने लक्ष्य की ओर निरन्तर बढ़ते जाने से सफलता सुनिश्चित है। दोपहर के भोजनोपरान्त सत्र की अध्यक्षता सहायक मण्डल सदस्या डॉ. (श्रीमती) रोजा ओल्याई द्वारा की गई, इस सत्र का शुभारम्भ डॉ. (श्रीमती) शिरीन महलाती द्वारा रिज़वान संदेश एवं जनगणना 2011 पर आधारित वक्तव्य से हुआ, कार्यक्रम को आगे बढ़ाते हुए बहाई पब्लिशिंग ट्रस्ट के प्रबन्धक श्री अरुण कुमार सिन्हा ने प्रभुधर्म के प्रसार में बहाई साहित्य के महत्व के विषय में बताया और ट्रस्ट द्वारा तैयार किये गये विभिन्न एवं महत्वपूर्ण बहाई साहित्य प्रत्येक बहाई को प्राप्त हो सके इसके लिए कई तरह की रियायतों की जानकारी भी दी। कोटा, राजस्थान के बहाई श्री प्रकाश नारायण मिश्र ने अपने वक्तव्य में बहाउल्लाह के अवतरण संबंधी विभिन्न भविष्य-वाणियाँ जो हिन्दू धर्मशास्त्रों में विद्यमान हैं के बारे में बताया तथा सम्मेलन में आकर्षण के केन्द्र रहे। शाम को परिषद सदस्य श्री मनीष चौहान ने अपनी सांस्कृतिक मण्डली की मदद से उस शाम को सुहानी बना दिया, विभिन्न समूहों के हर उम्र के बहाई कलाकार और गायकों ने अपनी- अपनी प्रतिभा को प्रस्तुत कर श्रोताओं को मन्त्रमुग्ध किया।

सम्मेलन के दूसरे दिन के पहले सत्र की अध्यक्षता सहायक मण्डल सदस्य श्री पातीराम नरवरिया द्वारा की गई। राष्ट्रीय सभा के कोष संबंर्धन विभाग के प्रमुख डॉ. नेसन ओल्याई ने बहाई कोष पर आधारित अपने वक्तव्य एवं पावर प्वाइंट प्रस्तुति के माध्यम से उपस्थित मित्रों में एक नव चेतना जागृत कर दी। हुकूकुल्लाह बोर्ड की सदस्य डॉ. महालाती ने ईश्वर का अधिकार (हुकूकुल्लाह) विषय पर बोलते हुए उपस्थित प्रतिभागियों को एक नई दिशा प्रदान की।

राजस्थान के जयपुर की सुश्री सहर ने लोगों को बताया कि इस पाँच वर्षीय योजना के शेष दिनों में हमारी कार्य शैली विश्व न्याय मन्दिर द्वारा रिज़वान संदेश 2010 में बताए मार्गदर्शन के अनुरूप होनी चाहिए। श्री पयाम शोगी ने पारिवारिक सम्मेलन के अवसर पर बोलते हुए कहा कि मध्य प्रदेश-छत्ताीसगढ़ के बहाइयों के लिए यह पारिवारिक सम्मेलन जहाँ उत्साह मनाने का एक स्थल है वहीं यह एक विशाल, प्रभावकारी एवं ऐतिहासिक सम्मेलन के रूप में याद किया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व के वर्षों में की गई मेहनत के परिणाम अब दिखने शुरू हो गए हैं। रिज़वान संदेश-2010 के कुछ चयनित पदों के अध्ययन हेतु श्री शोगी ने उपस्थित मित्रों को अलग-अलग समूहों में विभाजित कर अध्ययन-मनन में सहयोग किया, सभी समूहों ने अपनी सीख भी प्रस्तुत की।

तीसरे दिन श्रीमती साधना मित्रा ने अत्यन्त प्रभावपूर्ण ढंग से एक बहाई की वास्तविक पहचान को बताने का प्रयास अपने वक्तव्य एवं पावर प्वाइंट द्वारा किया। रिज़वान संदेश के शेष चयनित भाग का अध्ययन पुन: मित्रों ने अपने-अपने समूहों में बैठकर किया तथा सभी सघन विकास वाले समूहों के लिए योजना बनाई गईं। पारिवारिक सम्मेलन के अंतिम सत्र की अध्यक्षता सहायक मण्डल सदस्य श्री रोशन लाल पटेल द्वारा की गई, श्री रोशन लाल ने सलाहकार श्री सतीश मतई को आमंत्रित करते हुए मार्गदर्शन प्रदान करने का निवेदन किया। सलाहकार महोदय ने पूरे तीन दिन मित्रों के साथ बिताने के बाद अपने वक्तव्य में योजना के सफल क्रियान्वयन हेतु शुभकामनाएँ देते हुए कुछ अनुभवों को भी बताया। अंत में डॉ. सलील बरतर और परिषद के सचिव श्री एस एन पटेल द्वारा उपस्थिति मित्रों को धन्यवाद ज्ञापन दिया गया।

स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभा श्रीनगर द्वारा 25 से 27 जून 2010 तक ग्रीष्मकालीन स्कूल का आयोजन किया। यह ग्रीष्मकालीन स्कूल कश्मीर के प्रथम बहाई स्वर्गीय मोलवी अब्दुल्ला वकील को समर्पित था। इसमें 30 से अधिक बहाई मित्रों और जिज्ञासुओं ने भाग लिया। इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान उपस्थित मित्रों ने रिज़वान संदेश 2010 का अध्ययन किया और बहाई कोष, मानव का स्थान तथा पूर्व बहाइयों के जीवन इतिहास जैसे विषयों पर चर्चा भी की गई।

पटना में सामुदायिक विद्यालयों के लिए प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन

सामुदायिक कार्य के क्षेत्र में कार्यरत बहाई प्रेरित संस्थान 'सोल' द्वारा सामुदायिक विद्यालयों की स्थापना के लिए 5 मई से 19 जून तक पटना में प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें मणिपुर, पश्चिम बंगाल, बिहार एवं छत्ताीसगढ़ के 13 बहाई मित्र शामिल हुए।

इस प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम में सकारात्मक विद्यालय की अवधारणा और शिक्षक की अभिवृत्तिा तथा गुणों के संदर्भ में गहन अध्ययन किया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त पूर्व प्राथमिक विद्यालय के छात्रों को पढ़ाये जाने वाले पाठयक्रमों का प्रशिक्षण दिया गया। प्रशिक्षण के दौरान प्रशिक्षु शिक्षकों को शिक्षण अभ्यास के लिए सोल द्वारा संचालित 'चिल्ड्रन गार्डन' सामुदायिक विद्यालय ले जाया गया, जहां प्रशिक्षु शिक्षकों ने व्यावहारिक रूप से शिक्षण की सीख प्राप्त की। इस कार्यक्रम में मणिपुर की सुश्री मचासना कोईजाम,
डॉ0 टोम्बा, पं0 बंगाल के श्री श्यामल महतो एवं छत्तीसगढ़ के श्री शिव कुमार साहु ने रिर्सोस पर्सन के रूप में शामिल होकर प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया तथा अन्य 9 मित्रों ने सामुदायिक विद्यालय के शिक्षक का प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया।

डेढ़ मास तक चले इस कार्यक्रम का संचालन सोल के कार्यक्रम संयोजक श्री संदीप कुमार मल्लिक ने किया। कार्यक्रम के समापन के अवसर पर परिषद् के सचिव श्री अम्बरीष कश्यप, सहायक मंडल सदस्य श्री रजनीश सिंह तथा राहुल कुमार एवं परिषद् के सदस्य श्री दीपेन्द्र कुमार चन्दन भी उपस्थित थे। प्रशिक्षण के समापन के उपरान्त सभी रिर्सोस पर्सन एवं प्रशिक्षु शिक्षक ने पूरे उत्साह एवं निष्ठा के साथ अपने-अपने समुदायसमूहों में सामुदायिक विद्यालय की स्थापना कर सभ्यता के नवनिर्माण का आश्वासन दिया।

बड़े दु:ख के साथ सूचित किया जाता है कि स्थानीय बहाई आध्यात्मिक सभा-ब्यौहरा (रीवा), मध्यप्रदेश के सचिव डॉ. बद्री प्रसाद पटेल का 5 जुलाई 2010 को आकस्मिक निधन हो गया। स्थानीय सभा के तत्वावधान में 12 जुलाई को ब्यौहरा में उनकी स्मृति में एक प्रार्थना सभा का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें उनको श्रध्दांजलि अर्पित की गई और उपस्थित मित्रों ने आभा लोक में उनकी आत्मा की प्रगति के लिए ईश्वर से प्रार्थनाएँ कीं। इस अवसर पर कई स्थानीय सभाओं के सदस्यों के अतिरिक्त परिवारजन व मित्रगण भी उपस्थित हुए। डॉ. बद्री प्रसाद पटेल, बहाउल्लाह के समर्पित सेवक में से एक थे, उनके प्रयासों से क्षेत्र के अनेक लोगों तक प्रभुधर्म का संदेश पहुँचा।

Gujarat’s Godhra to have India’s second Lotus temple

Guajrat’s Ghodhra will have second lotus temple of India. The existing lotus temple is in Delhi, well known as Bahai temple.

Godhra’s proposed Pusthidham Mandir will be constructed in lotus temple shape. Ground breaking ceremony of this proposed structure will be held on 19 August at Godhra’s Bamroli road by Vaishnav sect Acharya Shri Dwarkeshlalji Maharaj.

Addressing a press conference in Vadodara Shri Dwarkeshlalji said Godhra is actually Gau-dhara, meaning a land of cows. He said the proposed Pushtidham will come up over 3.5 lakh square ft area by Jayantilal Chand Charitable Trust. A temple shaped two-storey structure will stand amid newly developed lake. Shrinathji’s murthy will be installed on the ground floor. Shri Kalyanray Prabhu will be there in Shrinathji’s lap.

Moreover there will be a garden, library, guest house, exhibition showcasing Pushtimarg’s 535 years history, Panchamahal district’s history and culture.

बाब की समाधि का जीर्णोध्दार

विश्व केन्द्र से प्राप्त समाचार के अनुसार बाब की समाधि के गुम्बद पर लगाये गये सुनहले टाइल्स को बदलने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम उठाया गया है। पुर्तगाल के एक टाइल्स निर्माता के साथ हाल ही अनुबन्ध किया गया है कि वह ग्यारह हज़ार ऐसे टाइल्स सप्लाई करेगा जो गुम्बद के ऊपरी हिस्से पर चारों ओर लगाये जायेंगे। अभी जो टाइल्स लगे हैं वे साठ साल पुराने हो चुके हैं और धीरे- धीरे अपनी चमक खोते जा रहे हैं। अनुबंधित कम्पनी की प्रयोगशाला में गहन प्रयोग और छानबीन के बाद जैसे टाइल्स को लगाने का निर्णय लिया गया है, उसके सम्बन्ध में अनुमान लगाया जाता है कि इसकी चमक दो सौ सालों तक बनी रहेगी। पुरानी मिट्टी के टाइल्स के स्थान पर अब जो टाइल्स बनाये जा रहे हैं वो चीनी मिट्टी के होंगे और सत्तार प्रकार और आकार के बनाये टाइस में से चुनाव किया जायेगा। कम्प्यूटर संचालित भट्टी में 1,400 डिग्री सेल्सियस तापमान पर इस चीनी मिट्टी पर सोने का पानी चढ़ाकर इसको स्वर्णिम रंगरूप प्रदान किया जायेगा और टाइल्स की मजबूती और रंग-रूप का पूरा-पूरा ध्यान रखते हुए चयन किये गये टाइल्स के एक-एक पीस को पैक कर हाइफा लाया जायेगा। सितम्बर तक इन टाइल्स का पहला कॉन्साइन्मेंट पवित्र भूमि पहुँच जाने की उम्मीद है। इस प्रकार धर्मसंरक्षक द्वारा इस पवित्र स्थल के गौरव को बनाये रखने का जो सपना देख गया था वह पूरा होगा। पुराने टाइल्स में केवल एक टाइल रखा जायेगा जिसे धर्मसंरक्षक ने खुद अपने हाथों से रखा था। यह टुकड़ा माहकू के उस कैदखाने का है जहाँ प्रभुधर्म के शहीद अग्रदूत कभी कैद किये गये थे।

असम राज्य की गतिविधियाँ

गुवाहाटी के बहाई भवन में 6 जून 2010 को स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभाओं के कोषाध्यक्षों के लिए एक दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें 9 स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभा के क्षेत्रों से 20 मित्रों ने भाग लिया। इस सत्र के दौरान मित्रों ने बहाउल्लाह और अब्दुल-बहा के लेखों से चुने हुए उध्दरणों का अध्ययन किया और विभिन्न बहाई कोषों में योगदान और हुकूकुल्लाह के भुगतान पर शोगी एफेंदी के अनुच्छेद तथा विश्व न्याय मन्दिर के पत्रों का भी अध्ययन किया। श्री इबोम्चा मितई ने उपस्थित सभी प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत किया, श्री एच. एन. दास ने रिज़वान संदेश 2010 पर प्रकाश डाला और श्रीमती वनिता दीवान ने हुकूकुल्लाह के भुगतान पर चर्चा की। अनुयायियों और संस्थानों के साथ कोषाध्यक्ष की भूमिका पर चार समूहों में एक कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया। श्री एम. केदीवान की पहल से सभी प्रतिभागियों ने परामर्श और समूह चर्चा में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया। यह बहुत ही रोचक था कि चाय और भोजन विराम की अल्पावधि में भी मित्रगण एक-दूसरे के साथ कोष में योगदान के महत्व के विषय में चर्चा करते थे। श्री भास्कर डेका, श्री कमल सरमा और श्री इबोम्चा मितई के प्रयासों से यह कार्यक्रम सफल बना। रिज़वान संदेश 2010 को बेहतर ढंग से समझने के लिए श्री एच. एन. दास ने असमी भाषा में अनुवाद किया। इस अवसर पर सहायक मण्डल सदस्य श्री संजीब सरमा भी उपस्थित थे। कार्यक्रम के अंत में मित्रों ने निर्णय लिया कि वह संबंधित क्षेत्रों में भी अनुयायियों को कोष में दान देने के लिए शिक्षित करेंगे और इस बात का भरसक प्रयास करेंगे की सभी राज्य और क्षेत्रीय गति- विधियाँ पूर्ण रूप से आत्मनिर्भर बने।
क्षेत्रीय बहाई परिषद, असम, अरुणाचल प्रदेश, मेघालय एवं नगालैंड द्वारा गोवाहाटी के बहाई भवन में 13 जून 2010 को विशेष रूप से नई गठित स्थानीय सभाओं के सचिवों और अध्यक्षों के लिए एक दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें 12 स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभाओं से 23 मित्रों ने भाग लिया। मित्रों ने समूहों में विभाजित होकर बहाउल्लाह, अब्दुलबहा, शोगी एफेंदी और विश्व न्याय मन्दिर के चुने हुए लेखों का अध्ययन किया। इस अध्ययन से उन्हें इन दिव्य संस्थानों की भूमिका एवं स्थान और वर्तमान पाँच वर्षीय योजना में इसकी अहम भूमिका के बारे में आवश्यक अंतर्दृष्टि प्राप्त हुई। मुकेश दीवान द्वारा तैयार की गई पावर प्वायंट प्रजेंटेशन की सहायता से, कैसे बैठक आयोजित करें, मिनिट्स बनाये और विशेष रूप से सभा के अध्यक्ष और सचिव के दायित्वों पर भी चर्चा हुई, जबकि डॉ. बी. आर. पांडा ने स्थानीय आध्यात्मिक सभाओं के इतिहास के विषय में संक्षिप्त में बताया। इस कार्यक्रम को सफल बनाने में सहायक मण्डल सदस्यों का भरपूर सहयोग प्राप्त हुआ।

गजुरात में संस्थान अभियान और बाल मेले का आयोजन

गारखड़ी गुजरात के तेजी से उभरते हुए समुदायसमूहों में से एक है और सघन विकास कार्यक्रम के लक्ष्य तक पहुंचने के लिए समुदायसमूह के मित्रगण एकजुट होकर संस्थान अभियान और मूल गतिविधियों के लिए आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। हाल ही में इस समुदायसमूह द्वारा रूही पुस्तक-7 के स्नातकों की संख्या में बढ़ोत्तारी के लिए एक संस्थान अभियान का आयोजन किया गया, जिसके कारण बहुत से क्षमतावान टयूटरों की संख्या में वृध्दि हुई। 22 अप्रैल से 7 मई 2010 तक गांधी नगर में आयोजित इस अभियान में 20 मित्रों ने भाग लिया, जिन्होंने विभिन्न संस्थान पाठयक्रमों को पूरा किया और मानवजाति की सेवा के लिए आवश्यक कौशल, दृष्टिकोण और ज्ञान प्राप्त किया। इस अभियान के परिणामस्वरूप मूल गतिविधियों में पाँच नई भक्तिपरक बैठकें, तीन बच्चों की बहाई कक्षायें और तीन स्टडी सर्कल को जोड़ा जायेगा। सहायक मण्डल सदस्य श्री जितेन्द्र एस. बागुल के पूर्ण सहयोग और सानिघ्य तथा होमफ्रंट पायनीयर श्री किशोर पवार की सहायता से नवम्बर 2009 से इस समुदायसमूह में व्यवस्थित प्रयास स्थान ले रहे हैं। इस समुदायसमूह में ग्रहण- शीलता का पूरा लाभ उठाने के लिए एक अन्य होमफ्रंट पायनीयर श्री विजय गावित की सेवायें ली गईं और तब से यहाँ गतिविधियों संवेग प्राप्त कर रही हैं और मित्रों के उत्साह में वृध्दि हो रही है जैसे-जैसे वह संस्थान अभियानों के दौरान विकसित नये कौशल को व्यवस्थित ढंग से अपने प्रयासों में अपना रहे हैं। इसके परिणाम- स्वरूप, इस समुदायसमूह में मानव संसाधनों में वृध्दि हुई और मूल गतिविधियाँ भी बढ़ रही हैं। यह आशा की जाती है कि गारखड़ी समुदायसमूह जल्द ही उस स्तर पर पहुँच जायेगा जब सघन विकास कार्यक्रम आरम्भ कर सकते हैं। वर्तमान में यहाँ 57 रूही पुस्तक-1 के स्नातकों में से 10 मित्रों ने पाठयक्रमों की पूर्ण श्रृंखला को पूरा कर लिया है और विकास प्रक्रिया के विस्तार में लग रहे हैं।

गुजरात के अहवा समुदायसमूह ने भिस्या, डांग में 15 मई 2010 को बच्चों के लिए एक सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया। इस रंगारंग सम्मेलन में पूर्ण उत्साह, जोश, रचनात्मकता, समर्थन और समर्पण से भरे 213 बच्चों और 22 शिक्षकों सहित लगभग 300 मित्रों ने भाग लिया, जो इस आनन्दमय समारोह के साक्षी बने।

बच्चों ने यहाँ आकर खेल खेले और कुछ गीत सीखे। बच्चों की कक्षा के संयोजकों ने अपनी कक्षा और समुदायसमूह में हो रही गतिविधियों के विषय में बताया। सूचना के आधार पर यहाँ इस समय 27 बच्चों की कक्षायें हैं। विभिन्न समूहों के बच्चों ने गीत गाये, नाटक और नृत्य का प्रदर्शन किया और कहानियाँ सुनाई। महत्वपूर्ण गतिविधियों के बारे में कुछ शिक्षकों ने अपने अनुभव सुनाये। दोपहर के भोजन उपरान्त चित्रकला के माध्यम से बच्चों को अपना कौशल और प्रतिभा दिखाने का अवसर मिला। इसमें ध्यान देने योग्य एक बात यह थी कि बच्चों की अधिकतर प्रस्तुति बच्चों की कक्षाओं के दौरान सीखे गये पाठयक्रम पर आधारित थी। प्रत्येक बच्चे को अपने समूह के बारे में पता था और अपने शिक्षक के लिए आदर रखते हैं। यह निश्चित तौर पर पक्का है कि बच्चों की बहाई कक्षाओं ने इस समुदायसमूह के लोगों की संस्कृति को बदल दिया है।

भारत में राष्ट्रीय बहाई अधिवशेन-2010 से विश्व न्याय मन्दिर को भेजा संदेश

परमप्रिय विश्व न्याय मन्दिर
बहाउल्लाह के प्रति गहन कृतज्ञता और सभी बहाई उत्सवों के सम्राट के दुनिया भर में मनाये जा रहे समारोहों से प्रेरणा पा कर यह सूचित करते हुए हमें हर्ष हो रहा है कि एशिया में महाद्वीपीय सलाहकार मंडल के प्रतिनिधि सलाहकार ओमिद सिओशानसियान की उपस्थिति में 75 प्रतिनिधि और कोई 60 पर्यवेक्षक, जिनमें 4 सहायक मंडल सदस्य भी शामिल हैं, राष्ट्रीय आध्यात्मिक सभा के पदमुक्त सदस्यों के साथ भारत में प्रभुधर्म की प्रगति पर विचार-विमर्श करने के लिये उपस्थित हुये। विश्व न्याय मन्दिर के 25 मार्च, 2007 के पत्र पर आधारित प्रतिनिधियों के लिये अधिवेशन पूर्व दृढ़ीकरण के बाद अधिवेशन के सभी कार्यवाहियों तथा भारत में अब तक शुरू किये गये 161 सघन विकास कार्यक्रमों की समीक्षा के केन्द्र में रिज़वान 2010 का महत्वपूर्ण संदेश बना रहा। जिन मुद्दों पर विचार-विमर्श किया गया उनमें विभिन्न राज्यों में हुई अब तक की प्रगति, क्षेत्रीय सम्मेलनों के बाद से सघन विकास कार्यक्रम वाले समुदायसमूहों में चलायी जा रही गतिविधियों को जारी रखना, विभिन्न संस्थाओं और एजेंसियों के कामों के बीच बेहतर तालमेल बनाये जाने, सब की प्रतिभागिता के जरिये आर्थिक आत्मनिर्भरता प्राप्त करना, ईश्वर का अधिकार और 2011 में होने वाली भारत की जनगणना तथा इन्हीं विषयों से सम्बन्धित सामान्य अन्य विषयों पर उपस्थित प्रतिनिधियों द्वारा परामर्श किया गया। इन सभी विषयों पर बराबर सलाहकार सिओशानसियान की मार्गदर्शक टिप्पणियों से प्रेरणा मिलती रही।
प्रभुधर्म की जन्मस्थली में रह रहे मित्रों, खासकर यारान को याद किया गया और उनकी सुरक्षा के लिये प्रार्थनायें की गईं। चुनाव के दिन प्रतिनिधिगण तथा अन्य मित्र मशरिकुल अशकार (उपासना मंदिर) में प्रार्थना के लिये गये और तब उन्होंने सन् 2010-2011 के लिये राष्ट्रीय आध्यात्मिक सभा के चुनाव में हिस्सा लिया। निम्नांकित सदस्य चुने गये: डॉ. ए. के. मर्चेंट, श्री पी. के. प्रेमराजन, सुश्री नाज़नीन रौहानी, डॉ. मंगेश तेली, श्रीमती ज़ीना सोराबजी, श्रीमती फरीदा वाहेदी, डॉ. आर. एस. यादव, श्री गणेश शेनाय, डॉ. शिरीन महालती। हम अत्यंत विनम्रता के साथ विश्व न्याय मन्दिर से निवेदन करते हैं कि हमारी कार्यवाहियों को तथा नवनिर्वाचित भारत की राष्ट्रीय आध्यात्मिक सभा को निरंतर मार्गदर्शन मिलता रहे ताकि वर्तमान विश्वव्यापी योजना के विगत चार वर्षों के दौरान जो कुछ भी सीख हासिल हुई है उन अनुभवों के आधार पर इस वर्ष हम ऐसी विजय प्राप्त कर सकें जिसकी कल्पना भी हम अब तक नहीं कर सके हैं।
विभिन्न कार्यवाहियों के बीच एक जो असाधारण संकल्प लिया गया वह था कि बहाई उपासना मन्दिर की स्थापना और जनसामान्य के लिये इसे समर्पित करने की 25वीं वर्षगांठ पर सभी खर्चों के लिये भारतीय बहाई समुदाय द्वारा आर्थिक रूप से आत्मनिर्भर बनाया जायेगा।
अत्यन्त विनम्र भाव से हम भगवान बहाऊल्लाह से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि हमें जो जिम्मेदारियाँ दी गई हैं उन्हें पूरा करने में उनका आशीष निरन्तर मिलता है और उसी विनम्र भाव से हम विश्व न्याय मन्दिर से पवित्र समाधियों पर प्रार्थना के लिये निवेदन करते हैं।

Shri Sathya Sai Baba visits "Baha'i" Lotus Temple

In the heart of New Delhi, the bustling capital of India, a lotus-shaped outline has etched itself on the consciousness of the city's inhabitants, capturing their imagination, fuelling their curiosity, and revolutionizing the concept of worship. This is the Bahá'í Mashriqu'l-Adhkar, better known as the "Lotus Temple". With the dawning of every new day, an ever-rising tide of visitors surges to its doorsteps to savour its beauty and bask in its serenely spiritual atmosphere.

On Monday, March 12, 2010, it had a unique visitor, who is verily the goal all worships offered in all places, at all times in the name of God; The unique visitor was Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba!

As per the reports from Delhi, Bhagawan reached the Bahá'í Temple at around 11:30. He was welcomed by the Director of the Temple along with General Manager and other management officials. Unique feature of this Bahá'í Temple is that like any other Bahá'í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all barring any religious or other distinction, as emphasized in Bahá'í texts. Bahá'ís believe the crucial need facing humanity is to find a unifying vision of the nature and purpose of life and of the future of society. It is a gathering place where people of all religions may worship God without denominational restrictions. The Bahá'í laws also stipulate that the holy scriptures of the Bahá'í Faith and other religions can be read or chanted inside in any language.

Mr. Praveen Kumar Mallik is the first Indian Baha'i naturally of Hindu Background who has been selected to serve the Second Holiest (Highest) institution of the Baha'i faith, the "International Teaching Centre".

भारत के विभिन्न समुदायसमूहों में 138 सघन विकास कार्यक्रम आरम्भ हो चुके हैं। आइये, हम एक बार फिर सघन विकास कार्यक्रम की आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डालें। हम यह जानते हैं कि सघन विकास कार्यक्रम एक सीधा, सरल और प्रभावी कार्यक्रम है।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शिक्षण केन्द्र द्वारा तैयार प्रपत्र ''बढ़ता संवेग : विकास के प्रति एक सुव्यवस्थित पहल'' में कहा गया है, ''क्षेत्र के सभी निवासियों तक पहुँचने के लिये हम बहाउल्लाह के पावन शब्दों से प्रेरित होते हैं: ''इस युग में स्वर्ग आैर पृथ्वी से भी अधिक विशाल एक द्वार खुला है।'' अपने सामुदायिक जीवन के प्रवेश द्वारों को बाहर की दुनिया के लिये खोलने के गहन प्रयास के लिये साहस और कल्पनात्मकता, दोनों की जरूरत होती है।''

जो मित्र सघन विकास कार्यक्रम में भाग लेते हैं उन्हें यह मालूम होना चाहिए कि उनका उद्देश्य बहाउल्लाह के प्रकटीकरण को मानवजाति तक पहुँचाना है और प्रभुधर्म के संदेश के माध्यम से उनके आध्यात्मिक और भौतिक विकास का मार्ग प्रशस्त करना है। इसलिए स्वाभाविक निष्कर्ष यह निकलता है कि जब कोई समुदायसमूह अपना सघन विकास कार्यक्रम आरम्भ करता है तो वह उसके लिए एक आनन्दमय समारोह का अवसर होता है। जिन समुदायसमूहों में उच्च उत्साह और मजबूत समझ होती है वह सघन विकास कार्यक्रम आरम्भ करने के लिए तैयार हैं।

पश्चिम बंगाल के एक विशेष समुदायसमूह के उत्साह, उल्लास और सघन विकास कार्यक्रम आरम्भ करने के दौरान अपनत्व की भावना को प्रकट करने का एक रमणीय उदाहरण है। जिस दिन सघन विकास कार्यक्रम आरम्भ होना था, समुदायसमूह एजेंसियाँ और सहयोगी संस्थायें एक साथ शामियाने (टेन्ट) में एकत्रित हुईं, जहाँ कार्यक्रम आरम्भ होना था। जब स्थानीय बहाइयों के आने का इंतजार कर रहे थे, तभी उन्होंने कुछ दूर से आती ढोल, नारे और शंख ध्वनि सुनी। इस क्षेत्र में राजनीतिक गतिविधियों को देखते हुए उन्होंने समझा कि यह कोई राजनीतिक जुलूस है। लेकिन जैसे-जैसे आवाज तेज होती गई और करीब आती गई, वैसे-वैसे उन्होंने यह महसूस किया कि सघन विकास कार्यक्रम के शुभारम्भ के अवसर पर इस जुलूस में बहाई सदस्यों के साथ गांव के दूसरे मित्रगण भी शामिल थे। वहाँ एक बड़ा बैनर भी था जिस पर लिखा था ''पहले सघन विकास कार्यक्रम का शुभारम्भ''।

अधिक से अधिक गांव वाले इसमें शामिल हो गए और जल्द ही इन लोगों की संख्या दो सौ हो गई, जो इस आनन्दमय समारोह का हिस्सा बने। अन्तत: जुलूस समाप्त हुआ, सभी शामियाने में आ गए और कार्यक्रम आरम्भ हुआ।

मित्रों ने अपने अनुभव एक दूसरे से बांटे कि किस प्रकार उन्होंने अपनी मूलगतिविधियां आरम्भ की, बच्चों की कक्षा के शिक्षकों ने कक्षा के प्रतिभागी बच्चों में हुए परिवर्तन के बारे में बताया जो उन्होंने कक्षा के परिणामस्वरूप् हासिल किये, किशोरों के समूह के अनुप्रेरकों ने भी इसी प्रकार बताया। बच्चों और किशोरों के अभिभावकों ने उनमें देखे गए परिवर्तन के बारे में बड़े ही गर्व के साथ बताया। कक्षाओं में भाग लेने वाले बच्चों और किशोरों ने एक कार्यक्रम भी प्रस्तुत किया। गीत और नाटक के बाद सम्बन्धित संदेश का अध्ययन किया गया।

कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न हुआ, वहां एक बड़ा सहभोज था जिसमें प्रत्येक आमंत्रित थे। गांव वालों ने, बहाई और जिज्ञासु दोनों ने मिलकर चावल और अन्य सामग्री तैयार की और सबने बड़े चाव से खाया। संस्थानों के उपस्थित सदस्यों में से एक ने कहा कि मित्रों की इस प्रकार की संयुक्त भागीदारी देखकर यह कहना मुश्किल है कि कौन बहाई है और कौन नहीं।

यह समारोह केवल बहाइयों के लिए नहीं था, यह गांव की घटना थी और एक गांव में दो सौ से अधिक लोगों के लिए यह समारोह था। स्पष्ट है कि यह सघन विकास कार्यक्रम केवल बहाइयों के लिए ही नहीं बल्कि प्रत्येक के लिए है।

प्रसन्नता की बात है कि अपनेपन और प्रतिभागिता की समझदारी के कारण वहां पर किसी भी गतिविधि को आगे ले जाने की दिशा में किसी प्रकार का विरोध नहीं किया गया है। यद्यपि, यह स्पष्ट है कि जो ऊपर लिखा गया है वह हर समुदायसमूह में लागू नहीं होगा। हमारे प्रिय धर्मसंरक्षक शोगी एफेंदी का यह एक सुन्दर, वास्तविक उदाहरण है ''ईश्वर का घर सभी के लिए है।''

''बढ़ता संवेग'' प्रपत्र के जरिये हम याद दिलाना चाहते हैं कि हमारे वर्तमान शिक्षण प्रयासों का यह आधार है कि समस्त मानवजाति बहाउल्लाह की ओर उन्मुख हो रही है। खुलेपन के व्यवहार को अपनायें और संकोच की उन रेखाओं को समाप्त करें जो कभी-कभी अनुयायियों के माथे पर उभरती हैं, ताकि निसंकोच विशाल जनसमूह में हम बेझिझक प्रभुधर्म का संदेश दे सकें। राष्ट्रीय आध्यात्मिक सभा का प्रेम आप प्रत्येक के साथ है जो योजना के बचे महीनों में सेवा के काम में जुटे हैं।

इस महीने की 7 तारीख को नई दिल्ली स्थित बहाई भवन में एक प्रेस सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया गया, जिसे बड़े पैमाने पर मीडिया कवरेज मिला, जाने-माने अखबारों और टेलिविजन चैनलों ने प्रेस कांफ्रेंस को कवर किया।

हम जब ईरान स्थित बहाई मित्रों पर किये जाने वाले अत्याचार को कम करने और खत्म होने की राह जोह रहे हैं, आइये विश्व न्याय मन्दिर के उस पत्र की कुछ पंक्तियों पर चिन्तन करें जो सर्वोच्च संस्था ने प्रभुधर्म के उस पालने में रह रहे अनुयायियों को जुलाई 2008 में लिखा था। ये पंक्तियां हमारे लिये भी उतनी ही महत्वपूर्ण हैं, जितनी ईरान के हमारे मुसीबतज़दा बहाइयों के लिये : ''अत:, प्रयास के इस पथ पर उत्साह और दृढ़ता के साथ निरन्तर लगे रहें। जब आप ऐसा करें तब प्रत्येक मानव की अच्छाइयों को देखें, चाहे वह अमीर हो या गरीब, पुरुष हो अथवा स्त्री, वृध्द हो या युवा, शहर का रहने वाला हो या गांव का, कामगार हो या मालिक, बिना नस्ल अथवा धर्म का भेद किये हुए। गरीबों और वंचितों की मदद करें। युवा जनों की जरूरतों पर ध्यान दें और भविष्य के प्रति उन्हें आस्थावान बनायें, ताकि मानवजाति की सेवा के लिये वे अपने आप को तैयार कर सकें।

अपने सहयोगी नागरिकों के समक्ष पूर्वाग्रहों से लड़ने के अपने अनुभव रखने के हर एक
अवसर का लाभ उठायें और प्रेम तथा मैत्री के बंधन को मजबूत करने में उनका सहयोग करें और इस प्रकार अपने देश की प्रगति में तथा इसके लोगों की समृध्दि में अपना योगदान दें।''

History of the Bahá'í Faith in India

The history of the Bahá'í Faith in India started with the inception of the Faith in Iran when the Báb (literally, the Gate) inaugurated a new era in the history of the human race. The Báb Himself had appointed one of the Indian believers as the 'Letter of Living' in 1844-45, the first year of His Ministry. Since then, India is spiritually connected with the Bahá’i Faith.

As foretold by the Báb, the Promised One of all ages and peoples, Bahá’u’lláh (literally the Glory of God) revealed Himself in 1863. He, Himself, dispatched one of the distinguished Bahá'í teachers, Jamal Effendi, to teach the Cause of God in the years 1874-75. Jamal Effendi (left) travelled to many States and was successful in attracting many learned people and few Navaabs (ruler of the states) including the Navaab of Rampur State (now in U.P.) to the Faith. One young man who accepted was Syed Mustafa Roumi who later became distinguished in his manifold services and was appointed as a Hand of the Cause of God. Some of them accepted Bahá’u’lláh as the Universal Manifestation of God whose advent has been prophesied in all the Holy Scriptures. The other teachers who came to India during Bahá’u’lláh's Ministry included Mishkin Qalam, the distinguished Bahá'í Calligrapher. A series of teachers from the East and the West continued visiting India and travelling throughout the country during the time of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá (literally, the Servant of Bahá), the much-loved Master of the Bahá'í Faith. Prominent among them were Mirza Mahram and Mirza Mahmud Zarqani.

First Hindu Background Bahá'í
Narayenrao Rangnath Shethji is believed to be the first Baha'i from Hindu Background. Better known as Vakil, was born in a well-known Hindu family in Nawsari. He learnt about the Bahá'í Faith from Mirzá Mahram. To him giving the Message of Bahá'u'lláh to others was an essential duty. He became a Bahá'í in 1909.

Mr. Vakil became a graduate in Law, of the Bombay University in 1911. He was an advocate of the Bombay High Court and one of the senior lawyers of Surat. People came from different towns and cities for his advice and benefited from his services. He was always fair towards his opponents.

The most important event in his life was his pilgrimage to the Holy Land where he met the Master, 'Abdu'l-Bahá. He said to Vakil "you will be eternally confirmed." He was elected chairman of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of India and Burma in 1923. He always set aside a portion of his income for the Cause. He helped to deepen the understanding of his fellow believers or giving the Message to others. He passed away on 2nd May 1943.

First Sikh Background Bahá'í
Professor Pritam Singh is believed to be the first member of the Sikh community in India to accept the Bahá'í Faith, and the first to publish a Bahá'í weekly magazine in India. He was born on November 16th, 1881, in Punjab.

Prof. Pritam Singh obtained his B. A. degree in History, Economics and Political Science with distinction. In 1905, he became a teacher in Achison College, Lahore. He received his Master's degree in Economics from the university of Calcutta. He was appointed Professor of Economics and joined the University of Punjab. He was a Linguist and knew Hindi, Urdu, Gurmukhi, Persian and English.

He received the message of Bahá'u'lláh from Mirzá Mahmud soon after his graduation in 1904. He undertook teaching trips alone, and with Ms Martha Root and Dr. G. Y. Chitnis. He resigned from his profession to work for the Cause of God. He had simple habits. For the last few years of his life he pioneered to Amritsar where there were no other Bahá'ís at that time. He was one of the earliest secretaries of the National Spiritual Assembly of India and Burma. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 25th, 1959.

Why Baha'is reject the concept of reincarnation ?

“Question. - What is the truth of the question of reincarnation, which is believed by some people?

“Answer. - The object of what we are about to say is to explain the reality - not to deride the beliefs of other people; it is only to explain the facts; that is all. We do not oppose anyone's ideas, nor do we approve of criticism.

“Know, then, that those who believe in reincarnation are of two classes: one class does not believe in the spiritual punishments and rewards of the other world, and they suppose that man by reincarnation and return to this world gains rewards and recompenses; they consider heaven and hell to be restricted to this world and do not speak of the existence of the other world. Among these there are two further divisions. One division thinks that man sometimes returns to this world in the form of an animal in order to undergo severe punishment and that, after enduring this painful torment, he will be released from the animal world and will come again into the human world; this is called transmigration. The other division thinks that from the human world one again returns to the human world, and that by this return rewards and punishments for a former life are obtained; this is called reincarnation. Neither of these classes speak of any other world besides this one.

“The second sort of believers in reincarnation affirm the existence of the other world, and they consider reincarnation the means of becoming perfect - that is, they think that man, by going from and coming again to this world, will gradually acquire perfections, until he reaches the inmost perfection. In other words, that men are composed of matter and force: matter in the beginning - that is to say, in the first cycle - is imperfect, but on coming repeatedly to this world it progresses and acquires refinement and delicacy, until it becomes like a polished mirror; and force, which is no other than spirit, is realized in it with all the perfections.

“This is the presentation of the subject by those who believe in reincarnation and transmigration. We have condensed it; if we entered into the details, it would take much time. This summary is sufficient. No logical arguments and proofs of this question are brought forward; they are only suppositions and inferences from conjectures, and not conclusive arguments. Proofs must be asked for from the believers in reincarnation, and not conjectures, suppositions and imaginations.

“But you have asked for arguments of the impossibility of reincarnation. This is what we must now explain. The first argument for its impossibility is that the outward is the expression of the inward; the earth is the mirror of the Kingdom; the material world corresponds to the spiritual world. Now observe that in the sensible world appearances are not repeated, for no being in any respect is identical with, nor the same as, another being. The sign of singleness is visible and apparent in all things. If all the granaries of the world were full of grain, you would not find two grains absolutely alike, the same and identical without any distinction. It is certain that there will be differences and distinctions between them. As the proof of uniqueness exists in all things, and the Oneness and Unity of God is apparent in the reality of all things, the repetition of the same appearance is absolutely impossible. Therefore, reincarnation, which is the repeated appearance of the same spirit with its former essence and condition in this same world of appearance, is impossible and unrealizable. As the repetition of the same appearance is impossible and interdicted for each of the material beings, so for spiritual beings also, a return to the same condition, whether in the arc of descent or in the arc of ascent, is interdicted and impossible, for the material corresponds to the spiritual.

“Nevertheless, the return of material beings with regard to species is evident; so the trees which during former years brought forth leaves, blossoms and fruits in the coming years will bring forth exactly the same leaves, blossoms and fruits. This is called the repetition of species. If anyone makes an objection saying that the leaf, the blossom and the fruit have been decomposed, and have descended from the vegetable world to the mineral world, and again have come back from the mineral world to the
vegetable world, and, therefore, there has been a repetition - the answer is that the blossom, the leaf and the fruit of last year were decomposed, and these combined elements were disintegrated and were dispersed in space, and that the particles of the leaf and fruit of last year, after decomposition, have not again become combined, and have not returned. On the contrary, by the composition of new elements, the species has returned. It is the same with the human body, which after decomposition becomes disintegrated, and the elements which composed it are dispersed. If, in like manner, this body should again return from the mineral or vegetable world, it would not have exactly the same composition of elements as the former man. Those elements have been decomposed and dispersed; they are dissipated in this vast space. Afterward, other particles of elements have been combined, and a second body has been formed; it may be that one of the particles of the former individual has entered into the composition of the succeeding individual, but these particles have not been conserved and kept, exactly and completely, without addition or diminution, so that they may be combined again, and from that composition and mingling another individual may come into existence. So it cannot be proved that this body with all its particles has returned; that the former man has become the latter; and that, consequently, there has been repetition; that the spirit also, like the body, has returned; and that after death its essence has come back to this world.

“If we say that this reincarnation is for acquiring perfections so that matter may become refined and delicate, and that the light of the spirit may be manifest in it with the greatest perfection, this also is mere imagination. For, even supposing we believe in this argument, still change of nature is impossible through renewal and return. The essence of imperfection, by returning, does not become the reality of perfection; complete darkness, by returning, does not become the source of light; the essence of weakness is not transformed into power and might by returning, and an earthly nature does not become a heavenly reality. The tree of Zaqqum,(1) no matter how frequently it may come back, will not bring forth sweet fruit, and the good tree, no matter how often it may return, will not bear a bitter fruit. Therefore, it is evident that returning and coming back to the material world does not become the cause of perfection. This theory has no proofs nor evidences; it is simply an idea. No, in reality the cause of acquiring perfections is the bounty of God.

“The Theosophists believe that man on the arc of ascent(2) will return many times until he reaches the Supreme Center; in that condition matter becomes a clear mirror, the light of the spirit will shine upon it with its full power, and essential perfection will be acquired. Now, this is an established and deep theological proposition, that the material worlds are terminated at the end of the arc of descent, and that the condition of man is at the end of the arc of descent, and at the beginning of the arc of ascent, which is opposite to the Supreme Center. Also, from the beginning to the end of the arc of ascent, there are numerous spiritual degrees. The arc of descent is called beginning,(3) and that of ascent is called progress.(4) The arc of descent ends in materialities, and the arc of ascent ends in spiritualities. The point of the compass in describing a circle makes no retrograde motion, for this would be contrary to the natural movement and the divine order; otherwise, the symmetry of the circle would be spoiled.

“Moreover, this material world has not such value or such excellence that man, after having escaped from this cage, will desire a second time to fall into this snare. No, through the Eternal Bounty the worth and true ability of man becomes apparent and visible by traversing the degrees of existence, and not by returning. When the shell is once opened, it will be apparent and evident whether it contains a pearl or worthless matter. When once the plant has grown it will bring forth either thorns or flowers; there is no need for it to grow up again. Besides, advancing and moving in the worlds in a direct order according to the natural law is the cause of existence, and a movement contrary to the system and law of nature is the cause of nonexistence. The return of the soul after death is contrary to the natural movement, and opposed to the divine system.

“Therefore, by returning, it is absolutely impossible to obtain existence; it is as if man, after being freed from the womb, should return to it a second time. Consider what a puerile imagination this is which is implied by the belief in reincarnation and transmigration. Believers in it consider the body as a vessel in which the spirit is contained, as water is contained in a cup; this water has been taken from one cup and poured into another. This is child's play. They do not realize that the spirit is an incorporeal being, and does not enter and come forth, but is only connected with the body as the sun is with the mirror. If it were thus, and the spirit by returning to this material world could pass through the degrees and attain to essential perfection, it would be better if God prolonged the life of the spirit in the material world until it had acquired perfections and graces; it then would not be necessary for it to taste of the cup of death, or to acquire a second life.

“The idea that existence is restricted to this perishable world, and the denial of the existence of divine worlds, originally proceeded from the imaginations of certain believers in reincarnation; but the divine worlds are infinite. If the divine worlds culminated in this material world, creation would be futile: nay, existence would be pure child's play. The result of these endless beings, which is the noble existence of man, would come and go for a few days in this perishable dwelling, and after receiving punishments and rewards, at last all would become perfect. The divine creation and the infinite existing beings would be perfected and completed, and then the Divinity of the Lord, and the names and qualities of God, on behalf of these spiritual beings, would, as regards their effect, result in laziness and inaction! "Glory to thy Lord, the Lord Who is sanctified from all their descriptions."(5)

“Such were the limited minds of the former philosophers, like Ptolemy and the others who believed and imagined that the world, life and existence were restricted to this terrestrial globe, and that this boundless space was confined within the nine spheres of heaven, and that all were empty and void. Consider how greatly their thoughts were limited and how weak their minds. Those who believe in reincarnation think that the spiritual worlds are restricted to the worlds of human imagination. Moreover, some of them, like the Druzes and the Nusayris, think that existence is restricted to this physical world. What an ignorant supposition! For in this universe of God, which appears in the most complete perfection, beauty and grandeur, the luminous stars of the material universe are innumerable! Then we must reflect how limitless and infinite are the spiritual worlds, which are the essential foundation. "Take heed ye who are endued with discernment."(6)

“But let us return to our subject. In the Divine Scriptures and Holy Books "return" is spoken of, but the ignorant have not understood the meaning, and those who believed in reincarnation have made conjectures on the subject. For what the divine Prophets meant by "return" is not the return of the essence, but that of the qualities; it is not the return of the Manifestation, but that of the perfections. In the Gospel it says that John, the son of Zacharias, is Elias. These words do not mean the return of the rational soul and personality of Elias in the body of John, but rather that the perfections and qualities of Elias were manifested and appeared in John.

“A lamp shone in this room last night, and when tonight another lamp shines, we say the light of last night is again shining. Water flows from a fountain; then it ceases; and when it begins to flow a second time, we say this water is the same water flowing again; or we say this light is identical with the former light. It is the same with the spring of last year, when blossoms, flowers and sweet-scented herbs bloomed, and delicious fruits were brought forth; next year we say that those delicious fruits have come back, and those blossoms, flowers and blooms have returned and come again. This does not mean that exactly the same particles composing the flowers of last year have, after decomposition, been again combined and have then come back and returned. On the contrary, the meaning is that the delicacy, freshness, delicious perfume and wonderful color of the flowers of last year are visible and apparent in exactly the same manner in the flowers of this year. Briefly, this expression refers only to the resemblance and likeness which exist between the former and latter flowers. The "return" which is mentioned in the Divine Scriptures is this: it is fully explained by the Supreme Pen(7) in the Kitab-i-Iqan.
