Representatives of the Baha'i community meet with former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Friends from the Baha'i community recently met with former President of India, Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam on 11 January 2011. Dr. Kalam is familiar with the Faith, being the first sitting President of India to have visited the Temple in 2003.

The delegation consisted of Ms. Bani Dugal, who is the Principal Representative of the Baha H International Community to the United Nations, the Secretary of the National Assembly Ms. Nazneen Rowhani, and members of the task force that is coordinating the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Temple, Mrs NalinaJiwnani, andDrArjun Rastogi.

Dr. Kalam expressed his thoughts on the great need for prejudices to be overcome and for women to be empowered. He spoke about how differences need to be embraced and about the great need for increasing tolerance in both adults and children. He especially spoke about the need to educate adults and parents, more so than children, as it is often the home environment that shapes the thoughts children.
